New Year, New Panites: Five of My Fave Brands for Everyday Underwear

Journelle Allegra Balconette and Thong

Wearing: Heather Thong by Honeydew Intimates (size m/l)

Happy freaking New Year lacers! Hopefully, you all had a lovely New Year's Eve surrounded with great vibes and good champagne. I for one decided to have a no pants party at Club Home. Well, I guess that's a bit of a fib. I was wearing blue panties hoping to bring in some relaxation and tranquility into the New Year. And if you're confused on what that might mean- read my last post. Traditionally speaking, the color of your panties is supposed to help set your intention for the New Year. So, like, I'll just take all the help I can get.

Speaking of panties, I'm just going to come out and awkwardly ask. When was the last time you thoroughly checked your panty drawer? Ditching all of the styles that aren't going to make you feel like a million dollars when you put them on, first thing in the morning. So like, the pair that now has thirty-seven different holes. Or that one pair you've had for like ten long years, and now the band is far too stretched out. Those are the panties that have got to go. Oh, and let's not justify keeping them during your period. Take this time as an excuse to update.

A few tips on updating:

1. Take honest inventory before you throw anything away. Are you looking to replace it? Or hate the style/fabric so much you'd prefer never to see it again.

2. Mix up your fabrics. It's good to throw on a pair of panties entirely made of cotton to let the vag breathe for a day.

3. Invest in your vagina. I find it so fascinating, but strange that women will spend so much money on their clothes. Yet, they'll rummage through an entire bin of shit quality panties all to save a few pennies. Your underwear does play into the health of your vagina, by the way.

4. If you find a pair, you LOVE, buy two.

Now, I am not saying go out there and spend fifty dollars on a thong. But I do think we could ALL invest a little more in ourselves.

Here are my favorite brands for everyday undies:

Hanky Panky

Definitely, one of my favorite brands when it comes to everyday underwear. I highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a comfortable lace bottom. Because let's be honest here. Not many brands can nail the comfortable lace combo. Most of the time it feels like a stiff, starchy fabric that ends up irritating you for most of the day. But not Hanky Panky will literally make you feel like you're wearing nothing at all. My fave style from their collection is the High Rise Retro Thong. It's the perfect panty for high rise skinny jeans, completely avoids the awkward low rise panty lines. And if you take care of these panties properly, like not throwing them in the dryer, they'll last you a bit of time.

I've said this before, but I think Eberjey uses some of the softest fabrics ever. Like, you put anything they make onto your body, and it feels like you never want to take them off. Plus, they have probably the best variety of basics and lace styles one could want.

So, I'm just going to be super annoying and say it again. It's essential that you consider the fabric type when buying underwear. I always say it's good to mix things up and throw on a cotton panty every few days. Just to let your vag breathe. Also, if you're the type who likes to sleep in your undies cotton (or anything made from all natural fibers) is the best choice for you. Skin is a fabulous choice if you're looking for an organic cotton style. I like to sleep in the boyshort during that time of the month.

This brand is OG for me and The Lace Appeal. It was one of the first brands I reviewed and discovered for the blog while strolling through Nordstrom back when I lived in Los Angeles. I pretty much became obsessed with the Heather Thong, because it's the softest pair of undies ever. Like I don't even want to take them off. So, I did the most rational thing one can do and purchased three pairs. Proof here that you like what you like, right?

Maybe you're looking for something slightly more sophisticated and classic? I would highly recommend investing in Natori. Specifically the Bliss Perfection Thong, that has been a hot selling style almost everywhere (and has become one of my everyday go-to's). I love that it comes in so many different color options. I've got one in a bright magenta, which is a fun switch from my regular black panties.
