Lingerie You Need This Labor Day Weekend
And just like that, summer is coming to a near end. Here in London, the leaves are already beginning to turn brown and fall. It seems like yesterday I was running around preparing for Jenny aka The Fitness Mannequin to make her debut trip to the States. Now, I sit here tying up loose ends for my Labor Day Weekend extravaganza. Where has the time gone? I swear I had a laundry list of things to do, places to visit, restaurants to try. Of course, I’ve maybe completed two of those things? Please tell me I am not the only one who does this. You know, making all of the plans and then chooses to stay home instead? Typical.
But I am not going to let anything get in the way of my Labor Day plans. Although, I plan on postponing my LDW to mid-September, right before school starts. Because that’s the whole point of the holiday, right? Haha. It should be a fun, last soiree before my life turns into the wrath of hell, we call fashion school. Oh, and I’m going SOLO. Completely off topic, but whatever, I strongly believe every single girl on this planet should experience at least one solo trip. It's quite refreshing to put all of the real world nonsense on the back burner for a couple of days. Plus, you get to learn how much you're actually capable of (because you have absolutely no one else to rely on).
I’m thinking of spicing things up a bit during this getaway. Like, maybe leaving the black pantied at home and adding a little more color to my wardrobe?
A color I heavily associate with those warm summer days. This is me trying to hold onto summer as long as possible. If you're anything like me, you dread the colder seasons. Like, can we just bypass fall and winter please, and thank you. Except I will take a pumpkin spiced latte stat. What better way to hold onto the season as long as possible than with a few sets of pink lingerie?
Fleur’t Intimates was SO kind to send me a few goodies from their collection. These pieces I think are just perfect for LDW getaway.
The Strappy Bralette
Basically, the perfect carefree, comfortable and cute layering piece. I’m thinking of pairing it with a white wrap dress and a low-cut neckline. This way the world can see the beautiful lace and strappy details. Since becoming a D cup, I’ve found that it's quite difficult to find a bralette that actually fits. Most styles will turn my boobs into shapes I've never even seen before. Or the cup is too small causing everything to spill, everywhere. It's just not flattering, at all.
As you can see from the photo, the bralette fits nicely. Not only is the shape natural, but there is no extra spillage on either side of the cup. I was also impressed by the security of this style too. Though I do not recommend doing 38045 jumping jacks, a few bend overs won't force the girls out.
The back strap is really my only concern, it's a lot thinner than most products on the market. I had to play around with the positioning a little bit to avoid any weird back fat. Not sure that I would recommend wearing a tight piece of clothing with this piece, just to avoid constant adjustments. A flowy low-cut top or off the shoulder sweater should do the trick.
Lacy Dainties Cheeky Panties
There is nothing I love more than a cute pair of lace panties. I mean, they've helped inspire the word "lace" in The Lace Appeal. However, not every brand can nail this style. Ladies, you know what I am saying here. Sometimes the fabric comes out too itchy, or too tight, or too fragile where it easily snags. However, these briefs were absolutely perfect. They’re the kind of panties that make you want to lounge around the house all day avoiding pants. On a personal level, cheeky is a hard style for my body type. Nine times out of ten, the cheeks will eat the fabric and turn it into a thong. It's actually obnoxious, but I've learned to just deal with it. Now, I think if I had gone with the size large instead of a medium it would have been perfect. But it also didn't feel uncomfortable when the inevitable happened. Overall, they're the perfect lazy day panty that makes you not want to put on pants.
Let's not forget about proper care. Typically with any lace piece, I like to hand wash. It's just a personal preference. However, as you can imagine packing for a move across the world means limited time. So I threw this set into a laundry bag with like colors only. I do try to make it a point to wash like colors and fabrics. They lasted through the wash with no apparent stretching or damages. Oh, and let's not forget to:
NEVER PUT YOUR LINGERIE IN THE DRYER.
Racerback Chemise with Tassels
Lately, I have been overly obsessed with the lack of "mature" pajamas in my closet. It's like I've retired the cotton panties and over-sized tees, for matching shorts and tanks, or a pretty chemise. Maybe this is my version of adulting? When it comes to ANY piece of lingerie in my closet, it has to have multiple purposes. Like, I can't just buy something for Annie's wedding or date night with John (don't jump to conclusions, still single y'all. Just an example) with hopes of wearing it again. So naturally the same goes for my pajamas. I'm imaging this chemise right now paired with a sweater, and beige suede opened toe, strappy heels. Or am I going a little too far with this? Maybe on my LDW extravaganza, I'll share the look.
Anyways, I'm kind of obsessed with this pink dotted fabric. What a way to turn a casual style into a trendy piece? The adjustable tie in the back is a way to add a personal touch to the neckline. You can make it as high or low as you may like. Also, it wasn't sheer in the slightest so totally appropriate for breakfast, if that's your thing. I love that it's a shift style, hiding any evidence of eating three bagels and a muffin. However, if you have the AC on blast, I suggest putting a bra. My nips were definitely the star of the photoshoot last week.
You simply can't go wrong with these styles. Also, if you're traveling at all this weekend, I highly suggest investing in a Bra Kitty Travel case. No, this sentence is not sponsored. I'm just obsessed. They keep all of your intimates in one place, and the hooks won't snag any of your delicate shirts. I refuse to travel without mine.
